Eric Aldwin Bellinger Jr. (born March 27, 1984) is an American R&B singer and songwriter. He started writing songs in 2010. He helped write popular songs like "Lemme See" by Usher, "New Flame" by Chris Brown, and "Right Here" by Justin Bieber.

Eric Bellinger also sang on the album A Year Without Rain (2010) by Selena Gomez & the Scene. In 2011, he won his first Grammy Award for his work on Chris Brown's album F.A.M.E.. In 2014, Eric Bellinger released his first album as a singer, called The Rebirth.

Eric's Early Life

Eric Bellinger grew up in Los Angeles, California. He went to school in the Norwalk and Santa Fe Springs areas. There, he met his future manager, Nieman Johnson. Eric Bellinger's grandfather is Bobby Day, who wrote songs for The Jackson 5.

Eric's Music Career

Starting Out in Music

Eric Bellinger was offered a football scholarship to the University of Southern California. But he chose to follow his dream of making music instead. He joined an R&B group called AKNU.

In 2010, a friend named Erika Nuri invited him to join a group of songwriters called The Writing Camp. Eric Bellinger first wrote songs for pop artists like Selena Gomez and the Scene and Big Time Rush. Later, he worked with rapper The Game. This led to him writing and singing on several songs for The Game's album The Documentary 2. This helped him become more well-known.

Becoming a Solo Artist

In 2013, Eric Bellinger released a series of three mixtapes: Born II Sing Vol. 1, Born II Sing Vol. 2, and Born II Sing Vol. 3.

His first official album, The Rebirth, came out on May 17, 2014. This album did well on the music charts. It reached number 23 on the US R&B/Hip Hop charts.

After The Rebirth, he released more albums like Cuffing Season in July 2015 and Cuffing Season, Part 2 in December 2015. These albums also charted well.

Between 2016 and 2017, Eric Bellinger released three EPs (Extended Plays) called the Eric B. for President series. The name was a nod to the famous song "Eric B. Is President" by Eric B. & Rakim.

On April 6, 2018, he released the album Eazy Call. A month later, he released a 5-song EP called Meditation Music. This project was inspired by yoga and meditation, which he said helped him a lot.

On September 10, 2021, Eric Bellinger released New Light. This album was very special because it earned him his first Grammy nomination as an artist. It was nominated for Best Progressive R&B Album. In May 2022, he signed a deal with Roc Nation. He also sings the theme song for the Sesame Street spin-off show, Mecha Builders, with Shanice.

Eric's Family Life

On January 1, 2015, Eric Bellinger married La'Myia Good. They first met in the early 2000s in Los Angeles while working on music. They reconnected later and got married. Eric and La'Myia have two sons named Elysha and Eazy Bellinger. Eric Bellinger is also the brother-in-law of actress Meagan Good.
