Kunghit Island is an island located in the Canadian province of British Columbia. It is the most southern island in the Haida Gwaii group of islands. You can find it just south of Moresby Island.
The very tip of Kunghit Island, called Cape St James, helps mark the border between two important bodies of water: Hecate Strait and Queen Charlotte Sound. The only place where people live on Kunghit Island is a small community called Rose Harbour, which is on its northern shore.
About Kunghit Island
Kunghit Island is about 24 kilometres (15 mi) long. Its width changes from about 2 to 13 kilometres (1.2 to 8.1 mi) across. The total area of the island is around 215 square kilometres (83 sq mi).
Location and Size
A narrow stretch of water called Houston Stewart Channel separates Kunghit Island from Moresby Island. This channel acts like a natural border between the two islands.
