Kya: Dark Lineage is an exciting action-adventure game for the PlayStation 2. It was made by Eden Games and released by Atari.

In this game, you play as Kya. She and her half-brother, Frank, are pulled into a mysterious new world. Kya gets separated from Frank. Now, she must protect the friendly Nativs. These are cute, animal-like creatures. They are in danger from the evil leader Brazul and his scary Wolfen monsters.

What is the Story of Kya: Dark Lineage?

Kya (Dark Lineage character)
The main character, Kya.

The game starts with Kya and her half-brother Frank at home. Kya hears a strange noise. She finds Frank in a secret basement room. Frank accidentally solves a puzzle there. This opens a magical portal. Both Kya and Frank are pulled into it!

Kya wakes up in a strange jungle. Three Nativs, who look like animals, are looking at her. Soon, scary werewolf-like creatures called Wolfen attack them. Most of the Nativs are captured. Kya and one Nativ, Aton, escape. They reach a village called Nativ City. There, they meet the leader, Atea.

Atea explains that the Wolfen are actually Nativs. They were changed by Brazul, who used to be Kya's father. Kya decides to save Frank. She meets Akasa, who teaches her to fight. Kya gets special bracelets that make her super strong. She also learns a power to turn unconscious Wolfen back into Nativs.

Atea promises to help Kya find Frank. Kya needs to find a special medallion to return home. This medallion is broken into seven energy pieces called runes. Kya starts looking for these runes. Aton leads her to a mine where magical amber is found. But Aton betrays Kya! Brazul ambushes her. Kya escapes by collapsing part of the mine.

Kya soon finds out Frank is in Brazul's lab. She fights her way in to rescue him. To her horror, Brazul has turned Frank into a Wolfen! Kya defeats Wolfen-Frank. She uses her power to change him back into a human. Kya then collects the last runes. But Brazul ambushes her again and takes them! Kya learns she is part alien. She manages to escape.

Kya goes to Brazul's fortress. She fights Aton, who is now a Wolfen. She can't change him back because of falling crystals. Kya finally faces Brazul. After a tough battle, she defeats him! Kya returns to Nativ City as a hero. She activates the portal. But it doesn't take her home. Instead, Kya and Frank land on a desert island. A creature attacks them. The story ends here. If you save all the Wolfen, you see the game credits.

How Do You Play Kya: Dark Lineage?

Kya Universe

Kya: Dark Lineage is an action-adventure game with lots of jumping and exploring. You guide Kya through many different levels. As you play, you collect "nooties." These are like money. You can use them in Nativ City to buy items. These items help Kya move better. She can climb slippery walls, do wall jumps, or ride fast lizards called Jamguts. If Kya gets hurt, she can get energy back from big amber crystals.

The game uses a lot of wind. Kya often uses strong wind currents to help her. But sometimes, the wind can make things harder! There are also parts where Kya falls from high places. You control her speed and direction as she falls. She usually lands safely on a big flower called an Amortos, which acts like an airbag. If she hits something while falling, she gets hurt. If she hits the ground, she loses a life.

Kya has a special weapon called a "Boomy." It's like a magical boomerang. She uses it to cut ropes and attack enemies. You can upgrade the Boomy twice in Nativ City. The Silver Boomy lets you aim it in first-person. The Golden Boomy lets you control it to hit switches or faraway enemies. You can also buy bombs that explode or shock enemies. There are even traps to catch rare monsters for the Nativ zoo!

The game also has many puzzles. You often need to use items or creatures nearby to solve them. Some puzzles need Kya's special moves. Others need her upgraded Boomy. Sometimes, you need to buy the right equipment from Nativ City to solve a puzzle.

To move forward in the game, you need to do three things. First, buy equipment. Second, turn Wolfen back into Nativs. Third, collect all seven runes. You can rescue 260 Nativs in total. But you don't need to save them all to finish the game and fight Brazul.

Kya also has a hand-to-hand combat system. It's like a brawler game. When a Wolfen is close, Kya can't use her Boomy. She fights with punches, kicks, and throws. Kya learns basic moves from Akasa. You can buy stronger bracelets in Nativ shops. These make Kya's attacks stronger. She can even grab Wolfen by their tails and spin them around! Or she can ride on top of them to crash into other enemies. When a Wolfen is knocked out, you can turn it back into a Nativ. But you need enough Mana spheres to do this.

Another fun part of the game is "Magic Boards." These let Kya slide down rocky or tricky areas very fast. It's like a snowboarding game! At first, Kya just slides on her feet. Later, you can buy and upgrade her Magic Board. This lets her jump and go even faster!
