Kykotsmovi Village is a special kind of community called a census-designated place (CDP) in Navajo County, Arizona, United States. People sometimes call it K-Town or New Oraibi. It's the main center for the Hopi Reservation, which is a self-governing nation in northeastern Arizona.
In the Hopi language, the village is called Kiqötsmovi. This name means "mound of ruined houses." In 2020, about 736 people lived here. The Hopi reservation is very large, covering over 1.5 million acres. It has 12 villages spread across three areas called mesas. Kykotsmovi is one of the villages on the Third Mesa. Other villages on Third Mesa include Hotvela, Paaqavi, Munqapi, and Orayvi.
Village History
Kykotsmovi Village was started in 1906. This happened after a disagreement among the Hopi people in a village called Oraibi. They had different ideas about how to work with missionaries and government programs. Because of this, Kykotsmovi is sometimes known as Oraibi or New Oraibi.

Kykotsmovi is located in Navajo County, Arizona. The United States Census Bureau says the village covers about 16.8 square miles (43.8 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
People and Languages
In 2020, the population of Kykotsmovi Village was 736 people.
Many people in Kykotsmovi speak the Hopi language. In 2000, about 56% of people spoke Hopi at home. About 40% spoke English, and 4% spoke Navajo. Most residents are Native American.
More About the Village
Kykotsmovi has a few important places. You can find a store, a post office, and a community building here. There is also a school called Hopi Day School. The main road that goes through the village is Route 264.
The Hopi people from Old Oraibi first settled this area. They chose a spot near a spring at the bottom of Third Mesa. Today, the offices for the Hopi Tribal Council are located in Kykotsmovi. This is where important decisions for the Hopi Tribe are made.
An interesting event happened here in 1986. The Phoenix Suns basketball team played a game against the Dallas Mavericks. It was an NBA exhibition game, and 3,300 people came to watch. The Suns won 105-97.
