Kyle's Acting Career
Starting on Broadway
In August 2013, while still in college, Kyle was chosen for a role. He became the standby for Elder Kevin Price in the Broadway show The Book of Mormon. A standby actor learns a main role and is ready to perform if the regular actor cannot. He stayed with the show for three months. This work even counted towards his college degree!
Later that year, in December, Kyle joined the national tour of The Book of Mormon. Again, he was a standby for Elder Price.
Touring and Challenges
Kyle left The Book of Mormon tour in July 2014. He started practicing for the national tour of Pippin. He was cast as the main character, Pippin. However, just one week before the tour was supposed to start, he was told to rest his voice. Another actor, Matthew James Thomas, took his place.
Kyle never rejoined the Pippin tour. He has mentioned being fired from "one of his first big jobs" in interviews. But he has never said publicly that it was from the Pippin tour.
