Kyle Andrew Selig (born September 28, 1992) is an American actor, dancer, and singer. He is famous for playing Aaron Samuels in the musical Mean Girls. This show was even nominated for a Tony Award in 2018.
Kyle first performed on Broadway in 2013. He played Elder Price in The Book of Mormon. In 2024, he took on the main role of Jacob Jankowski in Water for Elephants. You might also know him as Mr. Komos from Monster High: The Movie.

Kyle's Early Life and School
Kyle Selig grew up in Huntington Beach, California. His parents are Stuart and Sharon Selig. He also has a half-brother named Riley and a half-sister named Harmony.
How Kyle Got Into Theater
Kyle became interested in theater after watching his older sister perform in a local play. As he grew older, he often went to special summer programs for musical theater. One of these was called Collaborative Arts Project 21 (CAP21).
High School and College Years
Kyle finished Huntington Beach High School in 2010. He was even named prom king! At his high school, he studied Musical Theater. He played the lead role of Don Lockwood in the musical Singin' in the Rain.
In June 2010, when he was 17, Kyle won the National High School Musical Theatre Award. This award is also known as the Jimmy Award. He also received a $10,000 scholarship. After high school, he went to Carnegie Mellon University. He earned a special degree in musical theater in 2014.
Kyle's Acting Career
Kyle's acting journey began while he was still in college. He has performed in many popular shows.
Starting on Broadway
In August 2013, Kyle was chosen to be a backup actor for the main role of Elder Kevin Price in The Book of Mormon on Broadway. He stayed with the show for three months. This experience even counted towards his college degree!
Later that year, in December, Kyle joined the national tour of The Book of Mormon. He was again a backup for Elder Price.
Moving On to Pippin
Kyle left The Book of Mormon tour in July 2014. He started practicing for the national tour of the musical Pippin. He was cast as the main character, Pippin.
However, just one week before the tour was supposed to start, Kyle had to rest his voice. Another actor, Matthew James Thomas, took his place. Kyle never rejoined the tour. He has mentioned being let go from one of his first big jobs, which might have been this one.
Returning to The Book of Mormon
Kyle rejoined the Broadway cast of The Book of Mormon in February 2015. He was part of the ensemble and a backup for Elder Price. His first time playing Elder Price on Broadway was on April 15, 2015.
For seven weeks in early 2016, he led the Broadway show as Elder Price. He also played the role again for two weeks in February 2022.
Other Stage Roles
In the summer of 2016, Kyle played Baby John in West Side Story at the Hollywood Bowl. He performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
In the fall of 2016, Kyle starred as Homer Hickam in the musical October Sky. This show was based on the movie of the same name. In the spring of 2017, he played Dauphin in Joan of Arc: Into the Fire. This was a new rock musical at The Public Theater.
Starring in Mean Girls
Kyle Selig became very well-known for playing Aaron Samuels in the Broadway musical Mean Girls. The show was written by Tina Fey. The music and lyrics were by Jeff Richmond and Nell Benjamin.
The musical first opened in Washington, D.C. from October 31 to December 3, 2017. Kyle was the first actor to play Aaron Samuels in this show. The musical is based on the popular movie. It officially opened on Broadway on April 8, 2018, at the August Wilson Theatre.
In December 2019, Kyle took a break from Mean Girls. The show's last performance was on March 11, 2020. The musical closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic and did not reopen.
Recent Broadway Roles
In March 2019, Kyle played Gene in Stephen Sondheim's Saturday Night. He acted alongside his Mean Girls co-star Erika Henningsen.
On August 15, 2024, it was announced that Kyle would return to Broadway. He took over the main role of Jacob Jankowski in Water for Elephants starting September 3, 2024. The show closed on December 8, 2024.
In January 2025, it was announced that Kyle would join the cast of Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends. He will perform in this show at the Ahmanson Theatre in February and on Broadway from March to June.
Giving Back to the Community
Kyle Selig also helps others. In August 2018, he took part in an event called Covenant House's Stage & Screen Sleep Out. He joined his Mean Girls co-stars Ashley Park and Curtis Holland. Together, they raised over $14,000 for Covenant House. This organization helps young people who are homeless or have run away. Kyle has also taught classes and mentored young performers.
Kyle's Personal Life
Kyle Selig has been in a relationship with fellow actor Erika Henningsen since 2018. They announced their engagement on July 1, 2021, after a trip to Hawaii. Kyle and Erika got married on May 22, 2023, in New York City.
