La Rural facts for kids
La Rural (which means 'The Rural Exhibition' in English) is a huge yearly show in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It's like a big fair for farming and animals! The event is put on by the Sociedad Rural Argentina, and both the show and the group are often called 'La Rural'. It happens every July at their special exhibition center in Palermo, Buenos Aires.
The Sociedad Rural Argentina was started a long time ago, in 1886. Their motto was 'To cultivate the soil is to serve the country'. The showground has a beautiful old stadium and a modern exhibition hall. When the big farm show isn't happening, the exhibition hall is used for other events, like trade shows. Sometimes, there are special shows in the stadium that tell the history of Argentina with dances and traditional food.
