La Torre is a special area called a barrio in the town of Lares, Puerto Rico. Think of a barrio like a neighborhood or a district. In 2010, about 1,574 people lived in La Torre. It's a part of Puerto Rico, which is a commonwealth of the United States.
History of La Torre
A long time ago, after the Spanish–American War in 1898, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of an agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became a territory of the U.S.
In 1899, the U.S. government counted everyone living in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. They found that 2,008 people lived in La Torre barrio back then. The population has changed over the years, as you can see in the table below.
