Lady Evelyn Lake is a beautiful lake located in the Timiskaming District of Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It's part of the Lady Evelyn River system. The lake gets its name from Evelyn Byng, Viscountess Byng of Vimy. She was the wife of a former Governor General of Canada, who is like the King or Queen's representative in Canada.

About Lady Evelyn Lake

Lady Evelyn Lake has a very interesting and irregular shape. It's almost like two lakes joined together! These two main parts are roughly the same size and are separated by a narrow passage called the Obisaga Narrows.

Where is Lady Evelyn Lake?

The southern part of Lady Evelyn Lake is found within the Obabika River Provincial Park. This park is a protected natural area. The lake is also located just east of another important natural space, the Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park. These parks help protect the wild nature around the lake.

Rivers Connected to the Lake

The Lady Evelyn River flows into and out of Lady Evelyn Lake. This river is a tributary (a smaller river that flows into a larger one) of the Montreal River. In turn, the Montreal River flows into the mighty Ottawa River, which is one of Canada's major waterways. This means Lady Evelyn Lake is part of a large network of rivers and lakes in Ontario.
