Lady Sarah Lennox (born 14 February 1745 – died August 1826) was a well-known member of the famous Lennox sisters. She was one of the daughters of Charles Lennox, 2nd Duke of Richmond and Sarah Cadogan.

Early Life and Royal Connections

Lady Sarah's parents both passed away when she was only five years old. After this, her older sister Emily raised her in Ireland. When Lady Sarah was thirteen, she moved back to London. She lived with another sister, Lady Caroline Fox.

Lady Sarah had been a favorite of King George II since she was a little girl. Because of this, she was invited to attend court events. There, she met George, Prince of Wales, who would later become King George III. They had known each other since childhood.

A Royal Friendship

When Lady Sarah was presented at court again at age fifteen, George III was very impressed by her. Lady Sarah's family hoped she might marry the future king. Lady Sarah also had feelings for Lord Newbattle. Her family convinced her to end her relationship with Lord Newbattle.

However, the king's advisors, especially John Stuart, 3rd Earl of Bute, stopped the royal marriage. It was not common for monarchs to marry someone who was not from a royal family. Even so, King George III asked Lady Sarah to be one of the ten bridesmaids at his wedding. He married Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.

Family and Marriages

Lady Sarah turned down a marriage proposal from James Hay, 15th Earl of Erroll. On 2 June 1762, she married Charles Bunbury. The wedding took place at Holland House Chapel in Kensington, London. Charles Bunbury became the sixth Baronet in 1764 after his father passed away.

Their marriage ended in divorce on 14 May 1776.

Second Marriage and Children

Lady Sarah married an army officer, Hon. George Napier, on 27 August 1781. They had eight children together:
