The Lake Fork is a river in north-central Ohio, United States. It's like a smaller stream, also called a tributary, that flows into the bigger Mohican River. The Lake Fork is about 14.7 miles (23.7 km) long.

This river is part of a huge water system! Its water eventually flows into the Walhonding River, then the Muskingum River, the Ohio River, and finally the mighty Mississippi River. The area of land that drains water into the Lake Fork is about 344 square miles (891 km²).

About the Lake Fork River

Where the Lake Fork Begins

The Lake Fork starts when two other streams meet. These are the Jerome Fork and the Muddy Fork. This meeting point, called a confluence, is in southeastern Ashland County, Ohio.

From there, the Lake Fork flows generally toward the south-southwest. It continues its journey into northwestern Holmes County, Ohio. Here, it joins the Mohican River. This meeting spot is about 3.5 miles (5.6 km) southeast of a town called Loudonville, Ohio.

Mohicanville Lake and Dam

In Ashland County, there's a special lake on the Lake Fork called Mohicanville Lake. This lake was created in 1936. It was formed by a dam built by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Dams are important structures that help control the flow of water. They can also create lakes for different uses, like recreation or flood control.
