Lake Fulmor is a small, man-made lake in the San Jacinto Mountains of Riverside County, California. It was created by building a dam on Indian Creek. The lake is located right off State Route 243. It is about 7 miles (11 km) northwest of the community of Pine Cove.

History of Lake Fulmor
Lake Fulmor was built in 1947 by the US Forest Service. It was filled with water in 1948. The lake was named in 1949 after a person named A. C. Fulmor. The dam that holds back Indian Creek also helps State Route 243 pass through the area. A small picnic area was added for visitors between 1953 and 1954.
In 1980, the US Forest Service planted a young giant sequoia tree. This tree was planted in the picnic area on the north side of Lake Fulmor. Since then, this single tree has grown into a whole group of giant sequoias. This group is now called the Lake Fulmor Grove. It is one of only two known giant sequoia groves that are growing naturally without human help. The other one is Black Mountain Grove, which is also located near Indian Creek.

Plants and Trees (Flora)
The area around Lake Fulmor is covered by a forest. You can find incense cedar and Douglas fir trees here. Along the northern shores of the lake, there is a special group of seven giant sequoia trees. The tallest of these trees stands about 67 feet (20 meters) high. The weather and environment in the San Jacinto Mountains are very similar to the Sierra Nevada mountains. This is why the giant sequoia trees in Lake Fulmor Grove can grow and spread naturally.
Animals and Fish (Fauna)
The lake and its surroundings are home to many different animals. You might see mule deer, ground squirrels, Steller's Jays, and California tree frogs. The US Forest Service regularly adds rainbow trout fish to the lake. This is done so people can enjoy recreational fishing there.
Things to Do at Lake Fulmor
Lake Fulmor is a popular spot for people traveling along the Banning-Idyllwild Panoramic Highway. The day-use area at the lake has several things for visitors to enjoy. There is a picnic area where you can eat your lunch. There are also restrooms available. You can find a small fishing pier where you can try to catch some fish. A dirt trail with rocks around its edges goes all the way around the lake, perfect for a short walk.
