A Look Back in Time
The land around Lake Overstreet has a long history. It was once part of a huge area called the Lafayette Land Grant. This was a gift of land given to Marquis de Lafayette, a French hero who helped America during the Revolutionary War.
Many years ago, before the American Civil War, the lake was part of a large farm called Andalusia Plantation. A Frenchman named Emile Dubois owned this plantation. Later, Lake Overstreet became the western edge of another big farm, the Live Oak Plantation.
