What Makes Lake Hall Special?
Lake Hall is known for its amazing water quality. It's called an oligotrophic lake, which means its water is very clear and has low levels of nutrients. This is great for the plants and animals living there! A local group called TAPP, which focuses on water quality, says Lake Hall has the best water of all the lakes in Leon County.
Because the water is so clear, scientists think the lake might be fed by an underground spring. However, they haven't found a direct connection to the Floridan aquifer, which is a huge underground water system. They also haven't found a sinkhole that connects to it.

Underwater Plants
You can find beds of two main types of underwater plants in Lake Hall:
- Vallisneria americana (also known as eelgrass)

Interestingly, Lake Hall does not have hydrilla, which is a fast-growing plant that can sometimes take over lakes. A small amount of hydrilla was once found in the southern part of the lake. To control it, special fish called grass carp were put into the lake. These carp eat the hydrilla, helping to keep the lake healthy.
