Lake Rosseau is a beautiful lake in Ontario, Canada. It's about 200 kilometers (124 miles) north of Toronto. Many cozy cottages surround the lake. Some of these homes are very old, built in the late 1800s!

The southern part of the lake is in Muskoka Lakes Township. The northern part is in Seguin Township. Lake Rosseau is connected to Lake Joseph. This connection happens through a narrow area at Port Sandfield and the Joseph River.

The lake also connects to Lake Muskoka. This connection is made by the Indian River. A special system of locks at Port Carling helps boats move between the lakes.

The village of Rosseau is at the very top of Lake Rosseau. This village was home to one of Ontario's first summer resorts. These resorts helped make the area famous. Places like Pratts Point and Rosseau House were well-known. Even though the old hotel is gone, the amazing views are still there. Windermere House is another famous resort right on Lake Rosseau.

Many well-known people have owned cottages on the lake. These include famous hockey player Steve Yzerman and actors Martin Short and Goldie Hawn. Business leaders like Ted Rogers and William Eli Sanford also had cottages here.

Even a former President of the United States, Woodrow Wilson (who was president from 1913 to 1921), enjoyed holidays on Lake Rosseau. He even bought an island called Formosa Island. There's a story that he signed a guest book at the Bala Bay Inn in 1914. This was when World War I started. However, there are no official records that show he was in Canada at that exact time.
