Lake Siskiyou is a beautiful lake in far northern California, near the town of Mount Shasta, California. It's not a natural lake, but a reservoir! This means it was created by people building a large wall, called a dam, across the Sacramento River. The dam that formed Lake Siskiyou is called Box Canyon Dam.
People use Lake Siskiyou for lots of fun activities like swimming and boating. It also helps protect the land around the river and controls floods.
The Wagon Creek Bridge
In late 2010, a special walking bridge was finished over the Wagon Creek inlet. This bridge was a big deal because it completed a walking trail that goes all the way around the entire lake!
The bridge cost about $2.8 million to build. Money for the project came from several places:
- The McConnell Foundation
- The State of California
- Money from the federal stimulus program
The McConnell Foundation also helped fund another famous bridge, the Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay in Redding, California.
