Lake Solitude is a beautiful lake located in Grand Teton National Park in the state of Wyoming, United States. This natural lake is about 0.5-mile (0.80 km) around. It sits at the top of north Cascade Canyon. Lake Solitude is a very popular spot for people who love hiking and backpacking.

Exploring Lake Solitude
Lake Solitude is a favorite destination for many visitors to Grand Teton National Park. Its clear waters and stunning mountain views make it a special place. The lake is fed by melting snow from the surrounding peaks. Its water then flows out into Cascade Creek.
Getting to Lake Solitude
There are two main ways to reach Lake Solitude, both offering amazing views.
Cascade Canyon Trail
One popular way to get to the lake is by starting at the Cascade Canyon trailhead. This trailhead is on the west shore of Jenny Lake. From here, the hike to Lake Solitude is about 7.2 miles (11.6 km) long. Along this trail, you will climb about 2,252 feet (686 m) in elevation. This path is known as the Cascade Canyon Trail and the Lake Solitude Trail.
Paintbrush Canyon Route
Another exciting way to reach the lake starts from String Lake. This route is longer and more challenging. It climbs steeply through Paintbrush Canyon to a high point called Paintbrush Divide. This hike is about 11.5-mile (18.5 km) long. You will gain over 4,000 feet (1,200 m) in elevation to reach the divide. After crossing the divide, the trail goes downhill to Lake Solitude.
Nature Around the Lake
Lake Solitude is surrounded by tall, rocky mountains. These mountains are part of the Cathedral Group. You can see famous peaks like Teewinot Mountain, Mount Owen, and Grand Teton from the lake. The area around the lake is home to many kinds of plants and animals. Hikers often see wildlife like moose, deer, and various birds.
