History of Land O' Lakes
The area now known as Land O' Lakes has a long history. In the 1830s, during the Second Seminole War, the land was settled. By the 1840s, a stagecoach line, which was like an old-fashioned bus route, ran through the center of the area.
Later, in the early 1900s, a railroad line was built, and a train station opened. Over the years, Land O' Lakes grew and included smaller communities like Denham, Ehren, and Gowers Corner.
A famous old tourist spot called Dupree Gardens was once located here. People suggested the name "Land O' Lakes" at a community meeting in 1949. On September 1, 1950, the Ehren post office officially changed its name to Land O' Lakes.
