Lara Veronin, also known as Lara Liang (simplified Chinese: 梁心颐; traditional Chinese: 梁心頤; pinyin: Liáng Xīnyí), is a talented singer from Taiwan and the United States. She is known for her beautiful voice and for writing many of her own songs. Lara has been active in the music world since 2004, first as part of a band and then as a solo artist.

Lara's Music Journey

Starting with Nan Quan Mama

Lara Veronin was born in California, United States, in 1988. In 2001, she moved to Taipei, Taiwan, with her family. She loved music from a young age and performed in different groups.

In 2005, a famous Taiwanese pop star named Jay Chou discovered Lara. She became the lead female singer in his band project, "Nan Quan Mama". That same year, Lara became very popular after singing a duet with Jay Chou called "Coral Sea" (pinyin: Shān Hú Hǎi). In Nan Quan Mama, Lara not only sang but also helped write songs and lyrics. She often worked with her bandmate Chase Chang.

During her time with the band, Lara also started acting. She appeared in the 2006 Taiwanese TV show Engagement for Love. Later, in 2012, she was the main actress in another Taiwanese drama called "Alice in Wonder City".

Becoming a Solo Artist

In 2009, Lara decided to leave Nan Quan Mama to start her own music career. She joined Jay Chou's music company, JVR Music. On December 6, 2010, she released her very first solo album, "Hello Lara Liang" (Chinese: 《Hello 梁心頤》).

Two years later, on October 29, 2012, Lara released her second solo album, "Free Spirit" (Chinese: 《自由靈魂》). For this album, she was much more involved in the creative process. She helped with the music, writing, and even the look and promotion of the album. This album had 11 songs, and she even worked with her former Nan Quan Mama bandmate Chase on a song called "Fragments" (pinyin: suì piàn).

Creating Meimeiwawa Multimedia

After thinking about it a lot, Lara left JVR Music in 2013. She then started her own company called Meimeiwawa Multimedia (pinyin: mèimèiwáwá dūoméitǐ) with her older sister, Esther Veronin. This company is Lara's record label and also helps other artists. It's also a creative space where they make music, entertainment, and other types of content.

Over the years, Meimeiwawa Multimedia has created many visual projects. These include short films, vlogs, and a web series called "Meiwa Diaries". Lara also worked with her sister on film production. She co-wrote a micro movie called "TAWKI: Taipei As We Know It" and played the main character, Holly. The Veronin sisters have made several other short films and micro movies where Lara was the lead actress. One of their films, "She Wore Red" (2015), won an award for Best Cinematography.

In 2015, Lara released her first song under her new company, called "Dida". The music video for "Dida" was filmed in Taipei and directed by her sister, Esther. The song was also part of a special project with the Red Cross Society of the Republic of China. Limited physical albums were sold, and all the money went to help the Red Cross.

Lara released three more singles under Meiwa Media:

  • 2016: "Where Do We Go"
  • 2017: "Play/Turn"
  • 2017: "Sunshine"

In 2018, Lara and Esther took on a big challenge. They turned Lara's third solo album, "Thousand-Faced Beast," into a full-length movie called "Tomorrow's Star." Lara starred as the lead actress in this film. The movie included all eight songs from the album, with their music videos woven into the story like a musical.

Partnering with NSMG

Since 2021, Lara has been working with NSMG to release her music. Her latest album is called "Dear You," and it's a tribute to popular Chinese love songs. Two songs from this album, "Quitting U" and "No More U," have been very successful on streaming platforms.
