Latham Creek starts at Pine Lake. This lake is in western Hall County. It's near the crossing of State Route 136 and Cool Springs Road. The community of Price is just south of this area.

The creek first flows southwest, then south. It travels about 1.4 miles (2.3 kilometers). Along the way, it joins with a smaller stream. This stream starts just east of Latham Creek.

Latham Creek then turns southeast. It meets another small stream from the northwest. Finally, the creek flows into Lake Lanier. It forms a part of the lake called the Latham Creek arm.

This arm is just east of the Chestatee River arm of Lake Lanier. Latham Creek joins the Chestatee River there. The Chestatee River is also under Lake Lanier at this point. This meeting spot is called a confluence. It's where the Chestatee and Latham Lake Lanier arms meet. This area is west of State Route 53.

What is a Watershed?

A watershed is an area of land. All the water in that area drains into one main stream or river. The land around Latham Creek is its watershed. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) gives this area a special code. It's called HUC 031300010703.

This watershed is known as the Latham Creek sub-watershed. It covers about 11 square miles (28 square kilometers). This area is located between Dawsonville and Gainesville.

The watershed drains the western part of the land. This land is between the Chestatee River arm and the Wahoo Creek-Little River arm of Lake Lanier. This area is in the northwestern part of the lake. It is also north of State Route 53.
