Lauerz is a charming village and a small town (called a municipality) in Switzerland. It's located in the Schwyz area, right next to the beautiful Lake Lauerz (Lauerzersee).

A Look Back: History of Lauerz
Lauerz was first written about in the year 1306. Back then, it was called Lowertz.
A very sad event happened in Lauerz in September 1806. A huge landslide occurred nearby in Goldau. This caused a giant wave, like a tsunami, in Lake Lauerz. The wave hit the village hard, and 115 people in Lauerz lost their lives.
Exploring Lauerz: Geography and Nature
The village of Lauerz sits on the southern shore of Lake Lauerz (Lauerzersee). The municipality includes the main village and many scattered farmhouses. These homes are found between the northern side of the Rigi mountain and the lake.
A part of the lake is also within Lauerz. This includes its two islands, Schwanau and Roggenburg.
