Laurel Hill is a special kind of community in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. It's called a census-designated place, which means it's an area that the government counts as a separate community for population surveys. In 2020, about 8,307 people lived here.

Laurel Hill used to be part of a larger area called Lorton. Most of Laurel Hill was once the land of the Lorton Reformatory, which was a prison. After the prison closed, Fairfax County bought the land in 2002. They then turned it into a new community with homes and other buildings.

The name "Laurel Hill" comes from an old house called Laurel Hill House. This house was built in the 1700s and was once home to William Lindsay, a hero from the American Revolutionary War. Later, it became the home of the prison's superintendent.

Laurel Hill is located in the southern part of Fairfax County. It has several neighbors: Crosspointe is to its northwest, Newington Forest is to the north, and Lorton is to the east. To the south, it borders Prince William County.

If you travel northeast from Laurel Hill, you can reach Washington, D.C. in about 19 miles (31 kilometers) by using Interstate 95 and Interstate 395.

The total area of Laurel Hill is about 11.7 square kilometers (4.5 square miles). Most of this area, about 11.55 square kilometers (4.46 square miles), is land. A small part, about 0.18 square kilometers (0.07 square miles), is water.
