Lauren Drummond (born 23 December 1987) is an English actress. She is famous for playing Mika Grainger in the school drama Waterloo Road. She also played nurse Chantelle Lane in Holby City and Faye Clark in The Royal.

Early Life and Training

Lauren Drummond was born and grew up in Cheadle Hulme, a town in Stockport, England.

She went to Bramhall High School. After high school, she studied performing arts at Mid Cheshire College. To improve her acting skills, Lauren also attended special programs. These included the Summer Conservatory for Actors at the famous Yale University and a workshop at Laine Theatre Arts in Manchester.

A fun fact is that Lauren is a third cousin of Tina Hobley, who also acted with her in the show Holby City.

Acting Career

Lauren Drummond started her acting journey with small parts in popular British TV shows. These included Coronation Street, Grange Hill, and Heartbeat.

Breakthrough with Waterloo Road

Her big break came in 2006 when she was cast as Mika Grainger in the BBC drama series Waterloo Road. The show is about the lives of teachers and students at a high school. She played this role until 2008. In 2024, she made a special appearance, returning as Mika for the final episode of the show's thirteenth series.

After her first run on Waterloo Road, Lauren performed on stage. She toured across the United Kingdom in a play called Billy Liar.

Roles in Medical Dramas

From 2009 to 2011, Lauren played Faye Clark in the hospital drama The Royal.

Soon after, she joined the cast of another medical show, Holby City, as a new nurse named Chantelle Lane. She was a major character on the show, appearing in over 100 episodes before leaving in 2013. She returned as Chantelle for one episode in June 2016. Interestingly, she had appeared on Holby City once before in 2008, playing a different character for a single episode.

Recent Work

Lauren has continued to act in theatre and on television. In 2014, she toured the UK again in a classic play called Dangerous Corner by J.B. Priestley.
