Early Life and College Career
Lawrence Moten grew up in Washington, D.C.. He went to Archbishop Carroll High School there. Later, he attended the New Hampton School in New Hampton, New Hampshire.
Playing for Syracuse University
Moten played college basketball at Syracuse University. He was a guard and forward for the Syracuse Orange team. He became the all-time leading scorer for Syracuse. He scored a total of 2,334 points during his college career.
Moten also set a record in the Big East Conference. He became the conference's all-time leading scorer with 1,405 points. He scored in double figures in almost every game he played. He was the only player at Syracuse to score over 500 points in four years in a row.
Professional Basketball Career
Lawrence Moten was chosen in the 1995 NBA draft. The Vancouver Grizzlies picked him in the second round. He played for the Grizzlies for two seasons.
Playing in the NBA
From 1995 to 1997, Moten played for the Vancouver Grizzlies. After that, he joined the Washington Wizards for the 1997–98 season. He showed his talent as a shooting guard in the NBA.
After the NBA
After his time in the NBA, Moten continued to play basketball. He played in other leagues like the CBA and the ABA. He also played basketball in other countries, including Spain and Venezuela.
Moten later became a vice president for the Maryland Nighthawks. This team was part of the ABA league. In 2014, he became the head coach for the Rochester Razorsharks. He led them to win their fourth PBL championship.
