He quickly became a key player for Wimbledon. In May 1986, he scored the goal that helped Wimbledon get promoted to the top division of English football.
His most famous moment happened in 1988. He scored the winning goal with a header in the 1988 FA Cup final against Liverpool. This was a huge upset! In the 1993–94 season, Sanchez left Wimbledon. He joined Swindon Town, a newly promoted team. However, Swindon Town had a tough season and were relegated. Sanchez only played eight games for them. After a few months, he left to become a player-manager for Sligo Rovers in Ireland. He scored his last professional goal in December 1994.
