Le Peuchapatte was a very small community. In 2003, it had only about 40 residents. It was located at an elevation of 1,131 meters (about 3,711 feet) above sea level. This made it one of the higher villages in the region. The total area of the municipality was 2.57 square kilometers (about 1 square mile).
Where Was It Located?
Le Peuchapatte was situated in the western part of Switzerland. It was in the canton of Jura, which is one of the 26 cantons (states) that make up Switzerland. The village was surrounded by other small communities. Its neighbors included Le Noirmont, Les Breuleux, and Muriaux.
What Happened to Le Peuchapatte?
On January 1, 2009, Le Peuchapatte officially joined with another municipality. It merged into the larger municipality of Muriaux. This kind of merger happens when smaller towns combine to form a bigger one. It can help with shared services and local government. After the merger, Le Peuchapatte was no longer an independent municipality. It became a part of Muriaux.
