Les Breuleux is a small town, also called a municipality, in Switzerland. It is located in the Jura canton, which is like a state or region in Switzerland. The town is part of the Franches-Montagnes district. On January 1, 2023, another nearby town, La Chaux-des-Breuleux, joined with Les Breuleux to form a larger municipality.

History of Les Breuleux
Les Breuleux was first mentioned in old records way back in 1429. At that time, its name was written as Les Bruilluit.
Geography and Landscape
Les Breuleux covers an area of about 10.8 square kilometers (4.2 square miles). A big part of this land, about 62%, is used for farming. Forests cover about 30% of the area. The remaining land, about 7.7%, has buildings and roads.
Most of the farming land is used for pastures where animals graze. The forests are mostly dense woods. The town also includes several small villages or hamlets, like Les Vacheries.
There are talks about Les Breuleux and several other nearby towns possibly joining together in the future. This new, larger municipality would be called Franches-Montagnes.
Coat of Arms
The coat of arms for Les Breuleux shows a green pine tree with a black trunk. It stands on black hills and has red flames coming from it. This design is an example of "canting arms." This means the picture on the coat of arms gives a hint about the town's name. The word "Breuleux" sounds a bit like "brûlé" in French, which means "burned." The flames on the coat of arms represent this idea.
People and Population
Les Breuleux has a population of about 1,320 people (as of 2003). In 2008, about 14% of the people living here were from other countries. Over ten years, from 2000 to 2010, the population grew a little bit. More people moved into the town than moved out.
Most people in Les Breuleux speak French as their main language, about 93% of the population. Portuguese is the second most common language, spoken by about 3% of the people. German is the third, spoken by about 2%.
In 2008, the population was almost equally split between men and women. About 49% were men and 51% were women. Most people living in Les Breuleux were born either in the town itself or in the same canton (Jura).
In 2000, about 25% of the population were children and teenagers (under 20 years old). Adults (20-64 years old) made up about 57% of the population. Seniors (over 64 years old) made up about 19%.
The town had 548 households in 2000, with about 2.4 people living in each home on average. Most of the homes were lived in all year round.

Transportation
Les Breuleux has two railway stations: Les Breuleux and Les Breuleux-Eglise. Both stations are on the Tavannes–Noirmont railway line, which helps people travel to and from the town by train.
