La Chaux-des-Breuleux was a small town, also called a municipality, in the Jura canton of Switzerland. It was located in the Franches-Montagnes district. On January 1, 2023, La Chaux-des-Breuleux joined with the nearby town of Les Breuleux. Now, it is part of the larger municipality of Les Breuleux.

History of La Chaux-des-Breuleux

La Chaux-des-Breuleux was first mentioned in official records way back in 1397. At that time, it was simply known as La Chaux.

La Chaux-des-Breuleux covers an area of about 4.12 square kilometers (1.59 square miles). A big part of this land, about 70.6%, is used for farming. Forests cover about 23.2% of the area.

About 3.5% of the land has buildings or roads. A tiny bit, 0.2%, is made up of rivers or lakes. The remaining 3.0% is land that isn't used for farming or building.

The town is located in the Franches-Montagnes district. It sits at a high elevation of 1,016 meters (3,333 feet) above sea level. This area is right on the border between the Canton of Jura and the Canton of Bern.

Some nearby towns, including La Chaux-des-Breuleux, have thought about joining together in the future. These towns are Le Bémont, Les Bois, Les Breuleux, Les Enfers, Les Genevez, Lajoux, Montfaucon, Muriaux, Le Noirmont, Saignelégier, Saint-Brais, and Soubey. They might form a new, larger municipality called Franches-Montagnes.
