Lee Dong-wook (Hangul: 이동욱) was born on November 6, 1981. He is a famous South Korean actor and TV host. He is well-known for his main roles in many popular TV shows. These include My Girl (2005), Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (2016–2017), and Tale of the Nine Tailed (2020). Lee Dong-wook has also hosted several talk shows. Some of these are Strong Heart and Wook Talk.

Early Life and Education
Lee Dong-wook was born in Seoul, South Korea. In 2005, he went to Joongbu University. He studied media and broadcasting arts there.
Career Highlights
Lee Dong-wook started his acting career in 1999. He won a modeling contest that year. This led to him being cast in an MBC drama. He then appeared in the teen drama School 2. He became more recognized after his role in School 3.
He became a big star with the romantic comedy My Girl in 2005. This TV show was very popular in Korea and across Asia. It helped him become a "Korean Wave" star. This means he became famous throughout Asia.
After My Girl, he acted in many different types of dramas. These included the drama Scent of a Woman (2011). He also starred in the historical thriller The Fugitive of Joseon (2013). In 2014, he reunited with his My Girl co-star Lee Da-hae in Hotel King.
From 2012 to 2013, Lee Dong-wook hosted the talk show Strong Heart. He hosted it with comedian Shin Dong-yup. He also joined the reality show Roommate from 2014 to 2015.
A very important role for him was in the fantasy-romance drama Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (2016–2017). He played a grim reaper alongside Gong Yoo. This show was a huge success. It helped his acting career become even more popular.
In 2018, he acted in the medical drama Life. He played a doctor in the emergency room. In 2019, he starred in the romantic comedy Touch Your Heart. He worked again with his Guardian co-star Yoo In-na. He played a busy lawyer in this show.
Also in 2019, he hosted Produce X 101. This was a survival show where people competed to become part of a boy group. Later that year, he played a main villain in the thriller drama Hell Is Other People. He played a dentist who was also a psychopath. To celebrate his 20th year as an actor, he started his own talk show called Wook Talk.
In 2020, Lee Dong-wook played a nine-tailed fox in the fantasy drama Tale of the Nine Tailed. He also appeared in the romantic comedy film Single in Seoul. In December 2020, he was named one of Asia-Pacific's Most Influential Celebrities on Social Media.
He continued to act in films and dramas. In 2021, he was in the romantic comedy film A Year-End Medley. He also starred in the mystery drama Bad and Crazy. In 2024, he is starring in the Disney+ web series A Shop For Killers.

Helping Others
Lee Dong-wook cares about helping people. On March 11, 2022, he donated 50 million won to the Hope Bridge Disaster Relief Association. This money helped people affected by a big forest fire in Uljin and Samcheok, South Korea.
Personal Life
Lee Dong-wook served in the military from August 2009 to June 2011. This is a requirement for men in South Korea.
Family Background
Lee Dong-wook's parents are mostly of Korean descent. In an episode of his talk show Wook Talk in 2020, a professor shared some interesting information. Genetic tests showed that part of his mother's family background matches people from Siberia. These groups are called Koryaks and Khakas people.
