Lee Thompson Young (February 1, 1984 – August 19, 2013) was an American actor. He started acting when he was a teenager. He became famous for playing the main character in the Disney Channel TV show The Famous Jett Jackson (1998–2001).
As an adult, Lee had important roles in movies and TV shows. He played Chris Comer in the movie Friday Night Lights (2004). He was also Detective Barry Frost on the TNT police drama Rizzoli & Isles (2010–14).

Early life and acting dreams
Lee Young was born in Columbia, South Carolina. His parents separated when he was in second grade. He then lived with his mother.
When he was ten, Lee acted in a play. He played Martin Luther King Jr. in a show called A Night of Stars and Dreams. This experience made him decide he wanted to be an actor.
Lee Young's acting career
Lee moved to New York City in June 1996. A year later, he tried out for the role of Jett Jackson. This was for the show The Famous Jett Jackson. In June 1998, the Disney Channel decided to make the show. It later became a movie called Jett Jackson: The Movie in 2001.
Lee also starred in Johnny Tsunami (1999). This was another Disney Channel Original Movie. He played Sam Sterling in that film.
After Jett Jackson
After The Famous Jett Jackson ended, Lee appeared in other shows. He had guest roles in the CBS series The Guardian. He also acted in the movie Friday Night Lights (2004). In this film, he played Chris Comer.
Lee also appeared in the movie Redemption: The Stan Tookie Williams Story (2004). He was on the TV drama South Beach. In 2006, he played Victor Stone, also known as Cyborg, in Smallville. He played Cyborg again in later episodes of Smallville.
Later film and TV roles
Lee was in the movie Akeelah and the Bee (2006). He played Akeelah's brother, Devon. He also played Delmar in The Hills Have Eyes 2 (2007). In 2009, Lee played a confident surgical intern named Derek in the comedy show Scrubs.
Lee played Al Gough, an FBI agent, in the TV drama FlashForward. His last acting role was Barry Frost. He played this character on the TNT drama Rizzoli & Isles. Barry Frost was the partner of Jane Rizzoli, played by Angie Harmon.
Personal life and education
Lee Young went to the University of Southern California. He graduated with honors. He studied cinematic arts, which is about making movies. He was also a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.
Lee enjoyed writing stories. He wrote the script for a short film called Mano in 2007.
Lee Young's passing
Lee Young passed away on August 19, 2013. Before his death, he had been dealing with mental health challenges.
After his funeral, Lee was buried in Lakeview Memorial Garden in York, South Carolina. A special memorial service was also held at Paramount Studios.
Lee's family started the Lee Thompson Young Foundation. This foundation works to help people understand and support those facing mental health challenges. They want to remove any negative feelings or judgments about mental health.
