History of LemonGrass
How LemonGrass Started in 2015
Ari Borovoy, a member of the band OV7, had an idea. He wanted to create a new music group with talented kids. These kids would sing, dance, and follow in OV7's footsteps.
To find the best talent, they held auditions. More than 900 children tried out! Only seven kids were chosen for the group. They were picked because they were great at acting, dancing, and singing. This made them very special. Ari Borovoy officially formed the group LemonGrass on his TV show "Plan B."
On August 12, LemonGrass performed their first song. It was called "Mi Mundo Gira Contigo." This was their official debut as a group.
Later that year, LemonGrass got to open for OV7 and Kabah. They performed in Monterrey, Mexico, on October 9. They also opened for them again at the Auditorio Nacional on October 23.
The group also performed in many shopping malls across Mexico. They did this to promote their new songs. Their first digital song, "Mi Mundo Gira Contigo," quickly became popular. It reached the Top 10 on iTunes and its lyric video got over half a million views!
2016: New Music and First Album
On January 22, 2016, a special album was released. It was called "México Se Pinta De Luz." LemonGrass was featured on this album alongside other famous singers. These included Lucero, Cristian Castro, and Pedro Fernández. LemonGrass sang "LUZ" and "Mi Estrella Guia" with other artists. This album was a tribute to Pope Francis.
On March 31, 2016, LemonGrass announced their next song. It was called "Emily Taught Me To Fly" (Emily me enseño a volar). The song became available online that same day.
Then, on June 10, they released their very first album. It was simply titled LemonGrass.
2017-2018: Touring and Deluxe Album
LemonGrass decided to release a new version of their first album. It was a deluxe edition with four brand new songs. This special version also included a DVD with music videos. It came out on April 21 through iTunes.
The group also announced many concerts across Mexico. Their first two shows were on Saturday, March 4. They performed at the Telmex Cultural Center Theater 1. Tickets went on sale in January.
2019: Neon Tour and New Songs
On July 25, 2019, it was announced that Jelissa Hernández had left the group. The group wished her well for her future.
The next day, July 26, LemonGrass shared exciting news. They would be going on a big tour! The "Neon Tour" would take them across Mexico, Spain, and the USA.
On August 27, 2019, LemonGrass released a new song. It was called "Pensando en Ti." They made both a music video and a lyric video for it. This song was part of their Neon Tour promotions. Sophie, one of the members, said the song was about love. This was a new topic for the group. It showed their change from kids to teenagers. On November 29, they also released a holiday song called "Navidad LemonGrass."
