The special part of this gecko's name, sanctaemartae, comes from the Santa Marta Mountains. These mountains are located in Colombia. This is where the very first gecko of this species was found and studied.

This gecko, L. sanctaemartae, makes its home in three countries: Colombia, Panama, and Venezuela.
Its Home Environment
The L. sanctaemartae gecko loves to live in forests. It can be found in these forests from sea level all the way up to about 600 meters (or 1,968 feet) high.
Reproduction
Like many other lizards, the L. sanctaemartae gecko is oviparous. This means that the female gecko lays eggs, and the baby geckos hatch from these eggs.
