Leroy Bobby Stanton (born April 10, 1946 – died March 13, 2019) was a professional baseball player. He was an outfielder in Major League Baseball (MLB). He played for nine seasons, from 1970 to 1978. Leroy played for the New York Mets, the California Angels, and the Seattle Mariners. He also played one season in Japan for the Hanshin Tigers in 1979.

Leroy Stanton's Baseball Journey
Playing for the New York Mets
Stanton started his MLB career with the New York Mets. He played with them for two seasons. During his time there, he had five hits in 25 at bats. He also had two RBIs, one double, and one triple.
In December 1971, the Mets traded Stanton. He, along with Francisco Estrada, Don Rose, and Nolan Ryan, went to the California Angels. In return, the Mets received Jim Fregosi.
Time with the California Angels
Leroy Stanton played five seasons with the California Angels. On July 10, 1973, he hit three home runs in one game. This happened against the Baltimore Orioles. It tied an Angels team record!
In 1975, Stanton was a key player for the Angels. He led the team with 14 home runs. He also had 82 RBIs that season. He played 594 games for the Angels. During these games, he got 443 hits, 47 home runs, and 242 RBIs.
Joining the Seattle Mariners
The Seattle Mariners picked Stanton in the 1976 MLB expansion draft. This meant he would join their new team. In 1977, Stanton had his best year for home runs. He hit a career-high of 27 home runs for the Mariners.
He played two seasons with the Mariners. In those 226 games, he collected 180 hits. He also added 30 home runs and 114 RBIs to his stats.
