Lewistown is a small city in Lewis County, Missouri, United States. In 2020, about 521 people lived there. It's part of the larger Quincy, Illinois–Missouri area. Lewistown is located on Missouri Route 6, close to where it meets Missouri Route 16. The city is also part of the Lewis County C-1 school district.

Lewistown's Story

Lewistown was officially planned and marked out in 1871. This happened when the railroad lines were extended to reach this spot. The community got its name from Lewis County, where it is located. A post office was first set up in 1872, and its name was changed to Lewistown in 1897.

An old building called the Quincy, Missouri, and Pacific Railroad Station is an important historical site. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. This means it's a special place recognized for its history.
