Li Bingbing (Chinese: 李冰冰; pinyin: Lǐ Bīngbīng; born February 27, 1973) is a famous Chinese actress. She is known for her roles in many popular films. Some of her well-known Chinese movies include A World Without Thieves (2004), The Knot (2006), and The Message (2009). She has also starred in big Hollywood films like Resident Evil: Retribution (2012), Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014), and The Meg (2018).
Li Bingbing has often been listed among the top celebrities in China by Forbes magazine, showing how popular and influential she is.

Li Bingbing's Early Life and Career
Li Bingbing grew up in a small town called Wuchang, Heilongjiang, in China. Her family worked hard, and she has a younger sister named Li Xue. When she was 16, she went to a special school for arts, the Jixi Normal School. After graduating in 1992, she worked as a music teacher at an elementary school in Harbin for a year. In 1993, she decided to study acting at the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
Li Bingbing became well-known for her acting in the movie Seventeen Years (1999). For this role, she won an award for Best Actress at the 13th Singapore International Film Festival. Later, she gained more attention by starring in popular TV shows like Young Justice Bao in 2001. She also appeared in many action-packed TV series, which made people call her an "action actress."
In 2004, Li Bingbing became even more famous after her role in the movie A World Without Thieves. She was nominated for an award for Best Supporting Actress for this film. The same year, her sister, Li Xue, became her manager, helping her with her career.
In 2009, Li Bingbing won the Best Actress award at the 46th Golden Horse Film Awards for her performance in The Message. She then starred in the 2010 action-mystery film Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame. In this movie, she played Shangguan Jing'er, a character based on a real, important politician from ancient China. In the same year, she and her partners, including her sister Li Xue, started their own company called Hesong Entertainment. They worked together on the film 1911 with Jackie Chan, which came out in 2011.
Li Bingbing's Hollywood Career
Li Bingbing's first English-language movie was Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, which was shown at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. She started to become more recognized in Hollywood after playing Ada Wong in Resident Evil: Retribution.
In 2013, Li Bingbing received the East-West Talent Award at the 4th Annual US-China Film Summit. The Hollywood magazine Variety also named her the Asian Star of the Year. The next year, she appeared in Transformers: Age of Extinction, which is the fourth movie in the popular Transformers series. This role really helped her become successful around the world.
In 2015, she was cast in a 3D science fiction thriller called Nest (also known as Guardians of the Tomb). This movie was a joint project between China and Australia. It was also announced that she would play China's first female superhero in a film called Realm, created by the famous Stan Lee.
In 2018, Li Bingbing starred with Jason Statham in The Meg, an American-Chinese movie about a giant shark.
