Liberty Grove is a cool suburb in the Inner West part of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It's about 17 kilometres west of the main Sydney central business district. This area is managed by the City of Canada Bay.

Liberty Grove is bordered by a big road called Homebush Bay Drive on its west side. To the east, you'll find the Main Northern Line railway. Other suburbs around it include Rhodes to the north and Concord West to the east and south. They all share the same postcode, 2138.

The way Liberty Grove was built was so good that it won an award in 1999. It received the Urban Development Institute of Australia award for excellence!

The Story of Liberty Grove

The first settlers arrived here in January 1793. They started farming in an area they called 'Liberty Plains'. For a long time in the 1900s, this area was known for its factories.

However, things changed a lot before the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Liberty Grove and the nearby industrial areas around Homebush Bay were completely transformed. They became part of the special Olympic area.

Fun Things to Do in Liberty Grove

The Liberty Grove community has lots of awesome facilities for everyone. You can find swimming pools, tennis courts, and even a basketball court. There's also a gym to stay active.

The area has a 'village green' and other parks, perfect for playing. There's also a function room for events. You can easily walk to Rhodes Waterside shopping centre, which is only about 100 metres from the northern entrance.

Getting Around Liberty Grove

You can drive into Liberty Grove from Homebush Bay Drive and Oulton Avenue. These entrances are in the northwest and north.

If you like walking, the northern entrance is a ten-minute walk to Rhodes railway station. The southern entrance, which is for walkers, is also a ten-minute walk to Concord West railway station. From there, you can also easily reach Bicentennial Park.

Even though Liberty Grove is right next to Concord West, you can't drive directly between them. But don't worry, you can still get there by bike or on foot! Settlers Boulevard in Liberty Grove can be reached from Concord West through an underpass on Queen Street.

You can also cycle or walk from Rhodes and Concord West at Oulton Avenue in the north. From the south, cyclists and walkers can use Concord Avenue. This road leads to Concord West, North Strathfield, and Olympic Park.
