Liddes is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Entremont district. It's part of the canton of Valais in Switzerland. This charming place is known for its beautiful mountain views and rich history.

History of Liddes
Liddes was first mentioned in official records way back in 1177. At that time, it was known as Leides. This shows that people have lived and built communities here for a very long time!
Exploring Liddes' Geography
Liddes covers an area of about 60.2 square kilometers (around 23.2 square miles). A big part of this land, about 33.4%, is used for farming. Forests cover another 23.8% of the area. Only a small portion, 1.3%, has buildings or roads. The rest, about 41.5%, is made up of mountains and other natural areas that aren't used for farming or building.
The town is located north of Bourg-Saint-Pierre and northwest of the huge Grand Combin mountain. Liddes is also found along the road that leads over the famous Great St Bernard Pass. This pass is a historic route through the Alps.
The municipality of Liddes includes several smaller villages or hamlets. These include Liddes-Ville, Chandonne, Fontaine, Rive-Haute, Drance, Fornex, Les Moulins, Vichères, Chez-Petit, and Palasui.
