Lightsview is a modern suburb located in the city of Adelaide, South Australia. It's a relatively new place, officially created in April 2016. This area is known for its newer homes and planned communities, making it a great place for families to live.
Discovering Lightsview
Lightsview is part of the City of Port Adelaide Enfield local government area. It's located in the inner northeast part of Adelaide. You can find its boundaries marked by Hampstead Road, Redward Avenue, Fosters Road, and Folland Avenue.
How Lightsview Began
The idea for Lightsview started as a big housing project in 2006. This project was built in the southern part of what was then the suburb of Northgate.
Later, in October 2013, the project grew even bigger. It expanded to include land that used to be the Ross Smith Secondary School. This helped create more space for new homes and community areas.
What Makes Up Lightsview
When Lightsview was officially formed, it brought together parts of a few older suburbs.
- Some houses along the north side of Redward Avenue, which were previously in Greenacres, became part of Lightsview. These homes are older than the main housing development.
- The suburb also includes land along Hampstead Road. This area used to be part of Northfield. It includes the site of a former high school and the Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre. The rehabilitation centre is a campus of the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
