Oakden is a suburb in Adelaide, South Australia. It is located northeast of the city's main business area. This suburb started as a housing estate called Regent Gardens in 1992. It was built on land that used to belong to the Department of Agriculture.

Where is Oakden?
Oakden was officially named in 1993. The name 'Oakden' comes from Patience Oakden. She was the wife of Osmond Gilles, who was South Australia's first Colonial Treasurer. Patience married Osmond in Germany in 1825.
Oakden is surrounded by several other suburbs. These include Northgate and Northfield.
Oakden's Boundaries
The suburb has clear boundaries. To the south, you'll find Lord Howe Avenue, Oxford Street, and Bristol Terrace. Sudholz Road is on the east side. Grand Junction Road forms the northern boundary. Fosters Road is on the west side.

One of the most notable places is Roy Amer Reserve. This is a regional park with wetlands. It helps collect storm water and recharge underground water sources. It also serves as a safe place for native fish. The City of Port Adelaide Enfield built this reserve in the early 1990s. It has won awards for its engineering design.
