Addarren Ross (born July 13, 1995 – died July 20, 2013), known as Lil Snupe, was an American rapper and songwriter. He was from Winnfield, Louisiana. He signed with American rapper Meek Mill's record label, Dream Chasers Records. Even though he passed away at a young age, his music and story touched many hip-hop artists. He is remembered through many songs and documentaries.

Addarren Ross was born on July 13, 1995, in Jonesboro, Louisiana.

Music career

Starting out and R.N.I.C

Lil Snupe began his music journey by sending a demo to Meek Mill. This happened when Meek Mill was on tour in Louisiana. Meek Mill later shared how Lil Snupe approached him. He said a young person knocked on his car window and gave him a demo. They liked it, and Lil Snupe later came to Philadelphia to work with them.

In March 2013, Lil Snupe released his song "Nobody Does It Better." This song was a team-up with his mentor, Meek Mill. In April 2013, he put out his mixtape called R.N.I.C. This mixtape featured other artists like Meek Mill, DJ Khaled, and Curren$y.

Songs released after his passing

Even after his death, new music from Lil Snupe continued to be released. In December 2014, the song "Meant 2 Be" came out. It featured American rapper Boosie Badazz. In January 2015, his album R.N.I.C 2 (Jonesboro) was announced. This album was a follow-up to his 2013 mixtape.

In March 2016, Lil Snupe's team released his song "Comeback Freestyle." It also came with a music video. In December 2016, his family released a 12-song album called 16 & Runnin Resurrected. This album included songs with rappers like C'Nyle and Money Bagz.

Passing and tributes

On June 20, 2013, Lil Snupe passed away in Winnfield, Louisiana. He was 18 years old. Police responded to a call about a shooting. Reports said an argument happened during a video game.

Many people shared their sadness after hearing the news. On June 21, 2013, Meek Mill posted messages on his Twitter account. He shared how sad he was. Meek Mill also said that Rick Ross wanted Lil Snupe on the MMG album Self Made Vol. 3. Lil Snupe was featured on the album's track "Lil Snupe Intro."

His funeral was held on June 29, 2013, at the Jonesboro-Hodge High School in Jonesboro, Louisiana. Many hundreds of people attended to pay their respects.

In July 2017, Meek Mill released the music video for his song "We Ball." This video was a tribute to Lil Snupe. It showed a part of Lil Snupe rapping. In April 2021, Lil Snupe's father visited his son's grave. In October 2021, Meek Mill released another song called "Angels (RIP Lil Snupe)" to honor him.

His impact

Lil Snupe's music and story have continued to inspire others. In January 2019, XXL magazine named Lil Snupe as an artist who influenced American rapper Asian Doll. In July 2020, American rapper GlitchMan also said Lil Snupe was one of his influences.

In September 2021, a documentary about Lil Snupe's life and career was shown. It was called The Dream Chaser and was part of DocuFest 2021 in Dallas, Texas. In March 2022, American rapper NLE Choppa mentioned Lil Snupe as one of his favorite rappers during an interview.
