Lima (pronounced LY-mə) is a small community in Pennsylvania, United States. It is known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's a place that the government counts for population, but it's not officially a city or town. Lima is located in Middletown Township, within Delaware County. In 2020, about 2,745 people lived there.

History of Lima
Lima has a long and interesting history.
Early Buildings and Community
The Middletown Friends Meetinghouse was built in 1702. This makes it one of the oldest buildings of its kind in the area. Back then, this region was part of Chester County.
Role in the Anti-Slavery Movement
Lima played an important part in the fight against slavery. Many people living there wanted to end slavery. Families like the Van Leers and Foxes helped free Black tradesmen. They also sold land only to people who supported the free Black community. This area was once called The Village of Lima. Today, it is known as Van Leer Avenue. The community grew with support from its neighbors.
Historic Arboretum
The John J. Tyler Arboretum is a special place in Lima. It is a large garden with many different trees and plants. This arboretum was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. This means it is recognized as an important historical site.

Lima is located in the northern part of Middletown Township.
Location and Roads
It is about 3 miles (4.8 km) west of Media. Media is the main town of Delaware County. U.S. Route 1, also called Baltimore Pike, runs along the southern edge of Lima. This road goes northeastward about 16 miles (26 km) to Philadelphia.
