Linda Coombs facts for kids

Linda Jeffers Coombs is a writer and historian. She is a member of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah). She used to be the program director at the Aquinnah Cultural Center.

Her Work

Linda Jeffers Coombs started working in museums in 1974. She had an internship at the Boston Children's Museum. This was part of their Native American Program.

There, she helped write books for kids. These books showed Native American culture. They shared stories from a Native American point of view.

Later, she worked for almost 30 years at Plimoth Plantation. She helped lead the Wampanoag Indigenous Program there. For 15 years, she was the associate director.

She wrote many articles about early American history. She shared Native American views on events. This included the first Thanksgiving and Columbus Day. She often spoke about needing more accurate history.

Today, Coombs is the program director of the Aquinnah Cultural Center. She continues to teach people about Wampanoag history and culture. She is known for her knowledge of Native American history in the region. She often helps with school projects and studies.
