Lindsey Napela Berg, born on July 16, 1980, is a retired American volleyball player. She used to play for Fenerbahçe Istanbul in Turkey. Lindsey was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and played volleyball for the University of Minnesota. She represented the U.S. national team in three Olympic Games. She won two silver medals with the team.

Lindsey Berg's Volleyball Journey
College Volleyball Career
Lindsey Berg went to the University of Minnesota. She played on the school's volleyball team. She was chosen for the All-Big Ten team in 1999, 2000, and 2001. Lindsey also set a new record for the most career assists at Minnesota. An assist is when a player helps set up a point for their team.
Playing Professionally
In 2002, Berg played for the Minnesota Chill. This was a team in the United States Professional Volleyball league. She was named the best server and best setter in the league. A setter is a key player who sets the ball for attackers. From 2005 to 2008, she played in the Italian Serie A League. This is a top professional league in Italy.
Playing for the U.S. National Team
Lindsey joined the U.S. national team in January 2003. That year, she played in all 44 of the team's matches. She led the team with 1,093 assists. She was named the best setter at the Pan American Cup. Her team won the tournament.
In 2004, Berg was again named the best setter at the Pan American Cup. The U.S. team won the silver medal. She also played for the team in the 2004 Summer Olympics.
In 2005, Berg was named the best setter at the Pan American Cup for the third year in a row. She also helped the U.S. win gold at the NORCECA Continental Championship. She was named the best setter there too. In 2006, Berg played for the U.S. in the World Grand Prix. In 2007, she helped the U.S. win a bronze medal at the FIVB World Cup. They also won a silver medal at the NORCECA Championship.
Berg was a co-captain for the team at the 2008 Summer Olympics. She played in 25 sets during the Games. The U.S. team won the silver medal. She was named the USA Volleyball Female Indoor Athlete of the Year for 2008. After the Olympics, Berg took some time off in 2009 to recover from surgery. In 2010, she played in the FIVB World Championship, where the U.S. finished fourth.
At the 2011 FIVB World Cup, Berg started in 10 out of 11 matches. She helped the U.S. team finish second. This helped them qualify for the 2012 Summer Olympics. She also helped the U.S. win the gold medal at the 2011 NORCECA Volleyball Championship. She was named the best setter of that tournament. She also helped the U.S. win the gold medal at the FIVB World Grand Prix. She was named the USA Volleyball Indoor Female Athlete of the Year for 2011. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Berg was the starting setter in seven of eight matches. The U.S. team won another silver medal.
Lindsey Berg's Life Outside Volleyball
Lindsey Berg was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on July 16, 1980. She went to Punahou High School in Hawaii. Later, she graduated from the University of Minnesota.
Lindsey enjoys teaching young players. She runs youth volleyball camps. She has also worked as an assistant coach for the University of Hawai'i Women's Volleyball team.
