Lindsey Napela Berg, born on July 16, 1980, is a retired American volleyball player. She used to play for Fenerbahçe Istanbul in Turkey. Lindsey was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. She played volleyball for the University of Minnesota. She also played in three Olympic Games for the United States national team. She won two silver medals at the Olympics.

College Volleyball Career

Lindsey Berg went to the University of Minnesota. She played on the school's volleyball team. She was chosen for the All-Big Ten team in 1999, 2000, and 2001. She also set a new record for the most assists in the University of Minnesota's history.

Playing Professionally

In 2002, Berg played for the Minnesota Chill team in the United States Professional Volleyball league. She was named the best server and best setter in the league that year. From 2005 to 2008, she played in the Italian Serie A League, which is a top volleyball league in Italy.

Playing for the National Team

Lindsey joined the United States national volleyball team in January 2003. That year, she played in all 44 of the team's matches. She led the team with 1,093 assists. She was named the best setter at the Pan American Cup. She helped the U.S. team win the tournament.

In 2004, Berg was again named the best setter at the Pan American Cup. The U.S. team won the silver medal that year. She also played for the team in the 2004 Summer Olympics.

In 2005, Berg was named the best setter of the Pan American Cup for the third year in a row. She also helped the U.S. win gold at the NORCECA Continental Championship. She was named the best setter of that championship too. In 2006, Berg played for the U.S. team in the World Grand Prix. In 2007, she helped the U.S. win the bronze medal at the FIVB World Cup. She also helped them win the silver medal at the NORCECA Championship.

Olympic Success

Berg was a co-captain of the team at the 2008 Summer Olympics. She played in 25 sets during the Games. The U.S. team won the silver medal. She was named the USA Volleyball Female Indoor Athlete of the Year for 2008. After the Olympics, Berg took some time off in 2009 to recover from surgery. In 2010, she played in the FIVB World Championship, where the U.S. team finished fourth.

At the 2011 FIVB World Cup, Berg started in 10 out of 11 matches. She helped the U.S. team finish second. This helped them qualify for the 2012 Summer Olympics. She also helped the U.S. win the gold medal at the 2011 NORCECA Volleyball Championship. She was named the best setter of that tournament. She also helped the U.S. win the gold medal at the FIVB World Grand Prix. She was named the USA Volleyball Indoor Female Athlete of the Year for 2011. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Berg was the main setter in seven out of eight matches. The U.S. team won another silver medal.

Lindsey Berg was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on July 16, 1980. She went to Punahou High School in Hawaii. She also graduated from the University of Minnesota. She is 5 feet 8 inches tall.

Lindsey now runs volleyball camps for young players. She has also worked as an assistant coach for the University of Hawai'i Women's Volleyball team.
