Lisa Diane Whelchel (born May 29, 1963) is an American actress, singer, and author. She is well-known for her role as a Mouseketeer on The New Mickey Mouse Club. Lisa also played the character Blair Warner for nine years on the TV show The Facts of Life.
In 1984, she was nominated for a Grammy Award. This was for her Christian music album called All Because of You. Later, in 2012, Whelchel was a contestant on the TV show Survivor: Philippines. She tied for second place and was voted a fan favorite, winning $100,000.

Early Life and Family
Lisa Whelchel was born on May 29, 1963, in Littlefield, Texas. Her mother was Virginia "Genny" French, a real estate agent. Her father was James "Jimmy" Whelchel Sr., an electrician. Her parents divorced in 1981. Her mother later married Roy Coleman in 1983.
Lisa has a younger brother, James "Cody" Whelchel Jr. She also has a younger half-sister named Casey Justice Coleman. Lisa and Cody grew up mostly in Fort Worth, Texas. She went to Liberty Christian School in Argyle, Texas.
Becoming a TV Star
The New Mickey Mouse Club
When Lisa was 13, talent scouts found her in Texas. They were looking for kids to work with Disney Studios. She became a Mouseketeer on The New Mickey Mouse Club. She moved to California the next year. She appeared on the show from 1977 to 1978.
Starring in The Facts of Life
Whelchel is most famous for her role on The Facts of Life. She played Blair Warner, a rich and proper student. She also played Blair on Diff'rent Strokes. The Facts of Life was a spin-off from Diff'rent Strokes.
In one episode, Lisa chose not to appear due to her personal beliefs. The story was then changed for another character, Natalie. This was the only episode she missed.
In 2001, Whelchel played Blair Warner again. This was for a TV movie called The Facts of Life Reunion. She also reunited with her co-stars for special events. In 2004, she sang the Facts of Life theme song at the TV Land Awards. She appeared on The Today Show in 2006. This was to promote the show's DVD releases.
In 2007, she had a surprise reunion with Kim Fields on Good Morning Texas. In 2011, Lisa and the cast of The Facts of Life received the Pop Culture Award. This was at the 9th Annual TV Land Awards. In 2021, Whelchel, Fields, and Mindy Cohn reunited again. They were on the set of Live in Front of a Studio Audience. Lisa also sang the show's theme song that night.

Music Career
In 1984, Whelchel released a Christian pop album. It was called All Because of You. The album reached No. 17 on the Billboard Christian music charts. She was nominated for a Grammy Award for it. She also wrote the title song, "All Because of You." She did not record a second album.
Writing Books
Whelchel has written ten books. Her books cover topics like motherhood, raising children, and friendships. She also writes about finding faith through holiday traditions. Some of her popular books include So You're Thinking About Homeschooling and The Facts of Life (and Other Lessons My Father Taught Me).
Competing on Survivor
On August 20, 2012, Whelchel was announced as a contestant on Survivor: Philippines. She was part of the Tandang tribe. She decided to keep her acting career a secret from most contestants. Many of them were too young to have seen The Facts of Life. Only a few people recognized her as "Blair Warner."
On December 16, 2012, Whelchel made it to the Final Tribal Council. There, a jury member told everyone she was a former child star. She tied for runner-up with Michael Skupin. Denise Stapley won the season. Lisa was also voted the Sprint Player of the Season. This award came with $100,000.
After Survivor, Lisa shared that she had West Nile fever. Her doctor said it would take about a year to recover.
Hosting and Personal Life
Hosting TV Shows
On January 14, 2013, Whelchel co-hosted several episodes of The Jeff Probst Show. Jeff Probst is the host of Survivor.
In April 2019, Whelchel hosted a The Facts of Life marathon on MeTV. This was to promote her new series, Collector's Call. This show is expected to have its sixth season in 2025.
Personal Life
On July 9, 1988, Lisa Whelchel married Steven Cauble. He was a pastor at a church she attended. They had three children together. They divorced in March 2012. In 2019, Whelchel married Pete Harris. He is a psychologist from Nashville, Tennessee.
