List of Oregon's Most Endangered Places facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Oregon's Most Endangered Places is a special list created in 2011. It's put together by a group called the Historic Preservation League of Oregon. This list helps people learn about important old buildings and places in Oregon that need help. These "historic treasures" are in danger of being lost forever, and the list tries to get support to save them.

What are Oregon's Most Endangered Places?

This list highlights places that are important to Oregon's history but are at risk. They might be old buildings, special sites, or even parts of towns. The goal is to make sure these places don't get torn down or forgotten. By putting them on the list, more people become aware and can work together to protect them.

Why are these places important?

Historic places are like giant storybooks. They show us how people lived long ago and what was important to them. They help us understand our past and connect with the people who came before us. Saving these places means saving pieces of history and culture for future generations, like you!

Places on the List

The first list of endangered places came out in 2011. It included ten different sites. In 2012, nine more places were added, and in 2013, another ten sites joined the list.

The city of Portland has had the most places on the list, with three sites. Both Astoria and Redmond have also had two places each on the list.

Some examples of places that have been on the list include:
