List of heads of state of Albania facts for kids
Albania is a country in Europe. Since 1912, when Albania declared its independence, many different leaders have been in charge. These leaders are called heads of state.
After the end of communist rule in 1991, Albania became a republic. Today, the main head of state is the President. The President is chosen for a five-year term and can serve for a maximum of two terms. This is written in Albania's Constitution. In Albania, like in many countries with a parliamentary system, the President's job is mostly ceremonial. The Prime Minister is the one who really leads the government.
