This page lists the tallest buildings in Richmond, Virginia. Richmond is a city in the state of Virginia. The tallest building in Richmond right now is the James Monroe Building. It has 29 floors! From 1981 to 2007, it was the tallest building in all of Virginia. Then, the 38-story Westin Tower in Virginia Beach became taller.
The second tallest building in Richmond is the 600 Canal Place, which is the main office for Dominion Energy. It stands at 417 feet tall. After that, three other tall buildings each have 26 floors. These are Truist Place (400 feet), the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond (394 feet), and the Bank of America Center (331 feet).
The very first tall building in Richmond was the First National Bank Building. It was finished in 1913 and has 19 floors, standing 262 feet tall. You can find it at Main Street and Ninth Street.
Some of the newer tall buildings in Richmond include Brandt Hall, a 17-story dorm for college students at Virginia Commonwealth University, which was built in 2005. The Vistas on the James, another tall building, was also finished that year. In 2010, the 12-story MWV Building was completed. The old 23-story Central National Bank Building, built in 1930, is now being turned into apartments after being empty for over 20 years. A new 18-story office building called "Gateway Plaza" was finished in 2015. The newest tall building is the 20-story 600 Canal Place, which is 417 feet tall and serves as Dominion Energy's main office. It was completed in 2019.
