The Little Blue River is a stream in Jackson County, Missouri, USA. It's about 45 miles (73 km) long. This river is famous because a battle during the American Civil War was named after it: the Battle of Little Blue River.

The Little Blue River starts near the town of Grandview in southern Jackson County. It then flows north and joins the big Missouri River near Sibley. It's called 'Little Blue' because it's smaller than another river nearby, the Blue River.

The Little Blue River begins in Cass County, Missouri. This is where the river's journey starts. The exact spot is at 38°49′44″N 94°31′52″W / 38.82890°N 94.53106°W / 38.82890; -94.53106 (Little Blue River source).

What's on the River?

One important feature on the Little Blue River is Longview Lake. This is a large freshwater lake that covers about 930 acres (3.8 km²). It was created by building a dam across the river.

Near Lake City, MO, the river has a certain amount of water flowing through it each year. On average, about 167 cubic feet (4.7 cubic meters) of water flow past this point every second. This measurement helps scientists understand the river's health and how much water it carries.
