Lo Miranda is a city in Chile. It is part of the Doñihue area in the O'Higgins Region.

History of Lo Miranda
Lo Miranda gets its name from Pedro de Miranda y Rueda. In 1577, he received land from the Governor of Chile, Rodrigo de Quiroga. This land was called the Encomienda de Copequén.
Pedro's son, also named Pedro de Miranda y Rueda, inherited this land. He officially founded Lo Miranda on October 15, 1577. Later, in 1897, Lo Miranda was recognized as a "villa," which is like a small town.
Population Growth in Lo Miranda
A census in 2017 showed that Lo Miranda's population grew a lot. It increased by 32% compared to the previous census. Now, about 11,095 people live there.
The town has grown not just in population, but also in its size. More buildings and homes have been built in both city and country areas.
Economy and Industries
Lo Miranda is in an area mostly known for farming. It is also famous for its chicken industry. A large chicken processing plant, owned by Agrosuper, is located here.
People in Lo Miranda also make and sell special items. These include chamantos, which are traditional Chilean ponchos, and Chacolí candies.
Buildings and Architecture
Many old houses in Lo Miranda were built using adobe and mud. They often had roofs made of clay tiles. The main square, several shops, and the local church are all found in the town's historic center.
The local church was officially started on August 15, 1936. This was done by Monsignor Rafael Lira Infante, who was the Bishop of Rancagua.
Monument to the Chilean Huaso
On August 20, 2016, a special sculpture was opened in Lo Miranda. It is located at the entrance to the town. The Mayor of Doñihue, Boris Acuña González, and the Mayor of the O'Higgins Region, Pablo Silva Amaya, were there for the opening.
The sculpture was created by Roberto Calquin, who is a sculptor and muralist. It celebrates the Chilean Huaso, a traditional cowboy figure.
Sports in Lo Miranda
Lo Miranda once had a sports club called Súper Lo Miranda. It was started on August 10, 1980. The club was founded by Agrosuper, which was known as Super Pollo at the time.
