Lomas is a neighborhood, called a barrio, located in the town of Naranjito, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 3,865 people lived there. It's a part of the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, which is a commonwealth of the United States.
History of Lomas
After the Spanish–American War, Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States. This happened because of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. This meant Puerto Rico was connected to the U.S. but wasn't a state.
In 1899, the U.S. government counted everyone living in Puerto Rico. This count, called a census, showed that 994 people lived in the Lomas neighborhood at that time.
