Lomax, the Hound of Music is a fun PBS Kids TV show for kids. It uses puppets, real people, live music, and animation. The goal of the show is to help young children learn about music. It was inspired by John Feierabend's "First Steps in Music" program.
The show was created by Christopher Cerf, Norman Stiles, and Louise Gikow. It was made by Sirius Thinking, Ltd., Eyevox, Inc., and Connecticut Public Television. Lomax first started airing in October 2008. It quickly became known as a great educational children's show. People compared it to other famous shows like Sesame Street and Between the Lions.
Sirius Thinking first said the show would start in 2007, but it actually premiered in 2008. The last new episode was shown on December 29, 2008. After the show finished, PBS no longer had the rights to it. Sirius Thinking became the main owner of the series.
PBS Kids Sprout also showed Lomax, the Hound of Music for a short time. It was part of their "Musical Mornings" block in 2008. However, it was taken off in August 2009. Another show featuring The Wiggles took its place.
About the Show's Adventures
Lomax, the Hound of Music follows exciting adventures. The main character is Lomax, a friendly puppet hound dog. He loves melodies and is named after a music expert, Alan Lomax. Lomax travels with his fluffy cat friend, Delta, and their human pal, Amy.
They travel on a special train called the Melody Hound Express. This train takes them all over the United States. On their journey, Lomax and his friends look for amazing songs. They explore different music genres and styles. Real kids join them on the train and at different places. Together, they discover the rich musical history of the nation.
